The KT4TT Knowledge Base: The researcher's resource for innovation— Now including tools! (August 22, 2012), presented by Michelle Lockett, MBA, market research analyst for the Center on Knowledge Translation for Technology Transfer. In under an hour this webcast will introduce and demonstrate the Need to Knowledge (NtK) Model game board and a comprehensive repository of tools for generating new products through the methods of research, development and production. Academic researchers practicing applied research, new product development managers and those who fund applied research projects will benefit from this webcast. These stakeholders will learn how to navigate the knowledge base to efficiently find the information and resources they need to successfully transform research findings into commercialized products.
Knowledge Translation in Augmentative and Alternative Communication: A Randomized Controlled Study (September 22, 2011), presented by Co-Principal Investigator, Dr. Vathsala Stone, This one-hour webcast will present methods and results of a randomized controlled study that evaluated a KT strategy designed to communicate effectively new knowledge generated in the field of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) technology. Tailored and targeted dissemination of knowledge (TTDK) to potential users was the essence of the end-of-grant intervention that was applied to a pre-identified AAC research project output. Effects of TTDK on knowledge use were compared with a targeted dissemination of knowledge (TDK) method as well as to a control group, as measured through the Level of Knowledge Use Survey (LOKUS).
Three States of Knowledge and Their Implications for Innovation Policies (March 2, 2011), presented by KT4TT Project Director, Joseph Lane. Technology-based knowledge advances through multiple states akin to the three traditional states of matter: gas, liquid and solid. Three different methods yield these three different states: research creates conceptual discoveries, development generates tangible inventions, and production yields market innovations. This one-hour session applies logic modeling in the context of the Need to Knowledge Model, to describe the deliberate and systematic approach appropriate for demonstrating results of economic consequence and societal impact.
Intellectual Property Basics for Researchers and Inventors (November 11, 2010), presented by KT4TT Co-Investigator, Jim Leahy. This one-hour presentation introduces the Center on Knowledge Translation for Technology Transfer's (KT4TT) Intellectual Property Modules. The webcast will provide attendees with knowledge about the various forms of Intellectual Property (IP) protection available in the United States. It will also provide the knowledge needed to select correctly whether or not IP protection is warranted, and what type of IP protection is best suited for different situations.
The KT4TT Knowledge Base: Steps and Supporting Evidence to Improve Your Process! (September 29, 2010) During this one-hour webcast, Project Administrator, Jennifer Flagg will review the Center’s online knowledge base including the NtK model homepage, search page, and results pages. The presentation begins with an overview of the model, and ways to view steps, tips, and supporting evidence. The audience will then be introduced to the knowledge base’s search page, and given tips for effective searches.
Begin with Knowledge Translation; Have the End--Technology Transfer--in Mind (June 3, 2010). KT4TT Co-Principal Investigator, Jim Leahy, introduces the Center on Knowledge Translation for Technology Transfer's (KT4TT) PUSH award within a broader knowledge translation (KT) context. The Product Utilization Support and Help (PUSH) award is a peer-to-peer dissemination activity.
Knowledge Translation for Technology Transfer: Ensuring Beneficial Impacts from Research & Development (June 29, 2009). KT4TT Director, Joe Lane, introduces the concept of Knowledge Translation for Technology Transfer. He explains how the two processes can be linked to increase the relevance of technology-oriented knowledge from upstream academic research, through downstream industrial development and production, and out to persons with disabilities.
