The RERC-TET at the University at Buffalo has the mission to make new or improved assistive devices available in the marketplace. Contact begins with a telephone call to help determine if the invention meets the center's general guidelines. If so, a submission form is mailed out and the inventor completes a package of requested material. Coupled with the necessary submission fee, the device is evaluated through a series of steps. In the first two years of operation, the center has received over 1600 contacts.
